I actually found this really helpful forum the other day and they suggest with the correct diet (like taste of the wild, blue wilderness, etc.) and adding some acidophillus to the dogs diet can help control the yeast and also a shampoo called malasebo that is an antifungal shampoo. I took my dog to the vet too and they gave him the steriod antibiotic treatment and I had the same problem you had where it came back, I've also heard that some people who get steriod shots for their dog it can cause your dog to become diabetic. I plan on trying the acidophillus and new shampoo with my dog as I already feed him taste of wild salmon which he loves. I added in the link to that forum if you are interested in reading. I read on a website about applying apple cider vinegar topically and thought I would give it a try. The sores responded immediately and within a few days the wounds were closing over. Give it a try as it is natural, and if it helped with a staph infection I am sure other skin maladies would respond. And if it doesn't work at least in was natural so no harm will be done to your dog. My suggestion it to warm the apple cider vinegar in a bowl and wipe your dog with it on a cloth.
