How can I have my uti completely gone?
Caroline Asked: How can I have my uti completely gone?
I have had a uti for more than a month now. At first, I did not really pay attention to it. I am sexually active but it is also possible that I got it from a water park. I have had uti's before which I always treated with antibiotics. But the last uti before this one, when I took antibiotics, it gave me a terrible yeast infection. So I am very scared to take antibiotics now for anything. I don't have burning at all, sometimes just a little itch. But I have pain along the urinary tract. I have started taking dmannose two days, and it seems to have gotten better. I am also drinking water regularly and taking cranberry juice unsweetened.
My question is, can a doctor prescribe me something other than antibiotics?
Also how and how long do I have to take dmannose? Is there anything else that i can take stronger than Dmannose? I have taken AZO but it does not work for me.
Answers:
D-Mannose works against only E. coli.Unless yours is an E. coli UTI, D-Mannose can't help. And if you have an E. coli UTI, cranberry juice won't help either because E. coli is acid-resistant.Apparently, there's no specific stop date.
See your doctor, get tested. You may not have a UTI after all.If you're prescribed an antibiotic, take an OTC probiotic along with it and for a week afterward.
